Serviced November 2023, American made manual wind movement, good original black dial with 18k gold applied numerals. Distinctive swing lugs, hand polished 10k gold filled bezel and case back, NOS crown, brand new genuine leather strap with gold tone buckle, original mineral glass crystal, alloy mainspring.

Made for four years from 1948 through 1951, the Hamilton Brandon was the first in the CLD ("sealed") lineup of watches. The CLD line of watches came with a series of gaskets that were designed to keep moisture and dust out of the case and were marketed as "weatherproof". This line predates the "waterproof" watches that were introduced by Hamilton in the late 1950's. While later versions of the Brandon came with fixed lugs, only the 1948 model featured the swing lugs found on this example. The serial number on the movement is from 1947, suggesting that this was a very early watch out of the Hamilton factory. This watch comes with an American made Hamilton caliber 980 manual wind movement with 17 jewels. The black dial is original and has applied 18k gold numerals. The painted Hamilton logo, minute track, and sub seconds register is excellent. There is honest patina across the dial. The hands appear to be original with light patina. The original thick mineral glass crystal was polished clean and clear of any major defects during the full service November 2023. The 10k gold filled bezel and case back have been hand polished and show some fine scratching. There is plate wear on the swing lugs. The crown is a correct CLD NOS for the Brandon. The watch comes ready to wear on an unworn genuine leather black crock print two piece strap with gold tone buckle. The 980 caliber manual wind movement was serviced November 2023 and is running well and currently performing at +/- 19 seconds per day.

Case - Hand polished 10k gold filled bezel and case back. Fine scratching evident. Correct NOS crown.

Lugs - Plate wear on the corners and under the strap.

Crystal - Original thick mineral glass crystal polished clean and clear during November 2023 service.

Hands - Appear to be original with light patina.

Dial - Original, very good condition dial. Black dial with applied 18k gold numerals. Patina evident.

Band - Unworn black genuine leather croc print two piece strap gold tone buckle.

Movement - American made Hamilton caliber 980, manual wind, 17 jewels. Fully serviced November 2023. Runs strong and keeping excellent time.
