Serviced April 2024, American made manual wind movement, excellent silver dial with 18k gold applied numerals, hand polished 10k gold filled bezel and case back, original CLD crown, unworn genuine leather strap with gold tone buckle, original mineral glass crystal, alloy mainspring.
Made for four years from 1948 through 1951, the Hamilton Brandon was the first in the CLD ("sealed") lineup of watches. The CLD line of watches came with a series of gaskets that were designed to keep moisture and dust out of the case and were marketed as "weatherproof". This line predates the "waterproof" watches that were introduced by Hamilton in the late 1950's. The serial number on the movement is from 1947, suggesting that this was an early watch out of the Hamilton factory. This watch comes with an American made Hamilton caliber 980 manual wind movement with 17 jewels. The silver dial has applied 18k gold numerals. The painted Hamilton logo, minute track, and sub seconds register is excellent. There is no patina evident across the dial. The hands appear to be original with light patina. The thick mineral glass crystal is original. The 10k gold filled bezel and case back have been hand polished and show some fine scratching but no plate wear. The crown is the original and correct CLD crown for the Brandon. The watch comes ready to wear on an unworn genuine leather brown two piece strap with gold tone buckle. The 980 caliber manual wind movement was serviced April 2024 and is running well and currently performing at +/- 20 seconds per day.
